Acupressure Mats and Fibromyalgia

Acupressure mats are fairly new to the world of relieving pain. I did some research on the mats because I was intrigued. I didn’t know what a acupressure mat was. It is foam mat with thousands of pointy plastic spikes sticking up. That doesn’t sound like it would be comfortable, but they are not as bad as it sounds. They are bendable and you are laying still on it. The pressure of the pin points help release endorphins and Oxycontin, which make your feel good and can boost your mood as well. Much like the acupuncture works. After laying on the mat about 20 minutes or so, your body starts to become warm from increasing the blood circulation. This will bring relief for all kinds of pain in your body related to fibromyalgia. Your body will feel energized. It hasn’t had that much research done on it, but many people say it does help. You can use the acupressure mat for anxiety, stress, energy, cellulite, insomnia, migraines and reflexology.

There are several mats available. Some include a pillow with spikes on it as well to help with your neck. Some are light and portable. Some are washable. Some brands of acupressure mats are: The Spoonk Acupressure Massage Mat, The Nayoya Acupressure Mat, The Heavenly Acupressure Mat, The Zensufu Acupressure Mat, and the Shakti Acupressure Mat (an Indian name meaning “power”. One I found that was the cheapest was on Amazon called The Prosource Acupressure Mat & Pillow for only $19.99. I think it’s worth a shot trying it for that price. Other mats on Amazon include: The Nayoya, The Zensufu and Spoonk (the leading mat sold in the world). Happy relaxing!

My name is Melissa and I’m 49 years old. Eight years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I was experiencing soreness in my whole body as well as fatigue. I was referred to a rheumatologist for my symptoms and diagnosis. I am always looking to learn things I can do to make myself feel better. It is a complex and baffling disorder to have. I would like to educate myself and others more about the newest treatments and options out there.
